About This Job:
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of excellence in Medical Affair activities within Maghreb region. As the Head of Medical Affairs, you will report directly into the Head of Medical Affairs Middle East and Africa and be based out of our office in Algeria. This role offers you the opportunity to gain further exposure to other markets within the wider Maghreb market providing plenty of room to grow and develop.
In this role, you will demonstrate Matrix Leadership by developing and maintaining integrated partnership with stakeholders and ensure all MA Deliverables address local business needs to bring value to patients and advance the medical/scientific understanding of Astellas products to help ensure safe and appropriate use across their lifecycle
Key Activities:
- Ensure successful execution of all MA activities and deliverables.
- Provides strategic leadership and direction across all functions of the MA department to ensure all MA activities/deliverables are based on scientific validity, clinical importance, fiscal feasibility and aligned to both the Core Medical Plans and local business needs.
- Provide meaningful MA Value metrics, quality assurance controls, and operational assessment/analysis plans relevant to MA activities and deliverable.
- Ensures expert medical support to relevant TA to enable optimal and safe use of Astellas products while safeguarding the scientific integrity of Astellas.
- Represents the medical and scientific dimension of the brand strategies and tactics to optimize and achieve the brand medical objectives for the assigned therapy area(s).
- Inspires the MA department, gains commitment to the MA value narrative and motivates them to consistently deliver standard of excellence and superior results.
- Develops and supports strong relationships with KEEs and other advocacy stakeholder groups and serves as Astellas key medical spokesperson with governmental agencies, regulatory bodies, professional association, special interest groups, and the healthcare community at large.
- Ensures all medical affairs activities support Astellas commitment to integrity and delivery of the highest standard of quality and in compliance with all applicable Astellas regulations, external procedures, and ethical standards.
profileEssential Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven experience in research-based pharmaceutical industry in the areas of Medical Affairs and/or Medical Affairs & Development.
- Scientifically credible, persuasive, and able to integrate complex medical scientific information.
- Excellent communicative and able to develop and maintain good working relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of working in a leadership capacity (subject to defined minimums).
- Strong knowledge of local Regulatory/Payer/HTA bodies, ICH GCP guidelines, Industry regulations, and quality standards.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Should have previously worked with a global organization and be able to collaborate with cross functional teams effectively.
- Preferably knowledgeable within Oncology. Experience in other therapeutic areas relevant to Astellas such as Urology, Hematology, Anti-infectives will also be looked at.
- Fluency in English and French both written and spoken, Arabic is a plus
Educations/Qualifications:
- Medically qualified personnel (MD, Science related PhD, or PharmD) or equivalent
